Global Food Systems and Agrarian Change

This 15-credit postgraduate course aims to provide students with an introduction to the main theoretical models of agrarian change and to apply them to an understanding of current developments in global agricultural markets.

Students completing this course will be expected to be able to demonstrate a critical understanding of the main theories and debates about agrarian change and the political and economic dynamics accompanying it. Students will also be expected to be able to demonstrate knowledge of empirical evidence and research relevant to explaining the wider linkages between global food systems and local processes of agrarian change.
